We are very excited to be headed to Cannon Beach - it has come highly recommended to us by everyone we know who has travelled the Oregon Coast.
Decided to stop for some lunch on our way - chose Astoria, a beautiful little fishing village directly across the Columbia River. The state line between Washington State and Oregon is half way across the bridge (a veeeeery long bridge, I might add - spoken as a true bridge hater). We had a magnificant meal at a bistro overlooking the river. Fish taco's were uber yummy!!!
a fishing village, for sure:
Made me feel right at home ;)
And just a short drive to Cannon Beach. We were amazed at how Guinness was welcomed at the Inn on Cannon Beach. As this is our first time travelling with a dog, we really didn't understand what "pet friendly" meant. So we were thrilled to find his welcome basket:
The basket was complete with sheets to put over the bed covers, so the dogs can get up on the bed (if you want them to). Guinness thinks he as died and gone to heaven!!!
The Inn is just across the road from Haystack Beach. Words cannot possibly describe this magnificant beach - we'll let the pictures speak for themselves:
What we have learned about Cannon Beach: one of the top 5 places to retire; the pizza place we enjoyed yesterday was voted one of the top 100 pizza places in the nation; last year, Cannon Beach was voted the best beach in the nation - have no clue who does the voting on these things, but it is working for us!!! We love it here, and Guinness continues to thrive with the constant attention, serious beaches and tons of ball throwing.
Glad we booked 3 days here - it would be a crime to rush this!!!
next post - Stephanie Inn
Went there with Tara and the boys. Amazing beaches. One of my best trips away.
